ARCHIVIST REPORT

Sr. Donna Marie Beck, PhD, FAMI, MT-BC Sr. Donna Marie Beck, PhD, FAMI, MT-BC

As archivist, I have been privileged to be able to reflect upon the experiences and efforts of many persons who make our region such an outstanding one. My greeting to each of you is this: “May you continue to be wonderful stewards of our mission as you plan goals, review policies, and determine the best way to serve the membership!”

Emily Plassman has completed her journey as student archivist. The results of her hard work have concluded with two publications. The “Student Archivist’s Handbook” consists of 20 pages that include the following content: General Rules and Guidelines, a Series including “Tuning into Rx Music” Newsletters, Board Books, Miscellaneous Reports and University Specific News. A Finding Aid for the next Archivist is also included.  A listing of additional paperwork, supplies on hand as well as a list of past student archivists is attached to the handbook.

The second publication is “An Inventory of the Records of the Mid-Atlantic Region of the American Music Therapy Association.” This document includes an Overview and History of MAR, Scope and Content, Related Materials, and Administration.  A chronology from 1947 to 2009 is also included.

In the university specific series, the following schools have some information in their files: Immaculata, Marywood, Molloy, Montclair, Nazareth, New York University, Slippery Rock, SUNY Fredonia and SUNY New Paltz.

The next student to take up the task of archivist is Katie Myers. She will be responsible for scanning these materials so that you may be able to access them at your convenience as soon as we get the equipment necessary to accomplish the challenge!
