Qualifications:
- Bachelors or equivalency degree in music therapy from AMTA-accredited university
- Board-certified music therapist (MT-BC)
- Two years of previous experience required with previous internship or professional experience in hospice preferred
Applicant must have outstanding vocal and musical skills, and proficiency on guitar and keyboard. Music therapist will provide 1:1 and group sessions with hospice patients and their families within home, medical, and residential facility settings. Potential for work with bereaved individuals and families.
The music therapist will be required to attend weekly interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to patients plans of care. Therapist must be able to work independently, and must be comfortable providing educational in-services for staff and the community.

The CNNH is currently hiring a contracted Music Therapist for 10-20 hours per week, to take over a current caseload, and possible add new clients. We are pleased to announce that the Vacaville Psychiatric Program (VPP) will launch an American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) accredited Music Therapy Internship Program in 2012. On May 12, 2011, our facility was approved as Music Therapy National Roster Internship site.
The Vacaville Psychiatric Program is a licensed psychiatric treatment facility providing Intermediate and Acute Psychiatric care to the inmates of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). The Acute Program currently houses 218 beds that provide crisis intervention and stabilization of acute symptoms. Our Intermediate Treatment Program provides long term intensive treatment in our 114 beds. This program is expanding in our new State of the Art building currently scheduled for completion in late 2011.
Interns will serve as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team including psychiatrist, rehabilitation therapist, psychologist, social workers and medical staff. Our Interns will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic setting with a diverse diagnostic population giving them the opportunity to practice the full range of clinical skills. Training is an integral part of our program which would include on site seminars, multi-disciplinary trainings, and other rehabilitation services.
Our facility is located just one short hour from the San Francisco Bay area and from our state capitol in Sacramento. Housing is affordable and conveniently located to the institution.
