Donations to Scholarship and Harmony Funds
The Student/Intern Scholarship is awarded annually to provide support to budding music therapists. The Christina Grace Leonard Harmony fund was recently established to provide comfort and support to VMTA members coping with significant personal loss. Donations to the two funds are separate from membership dues. If you are interested in making a donation, please make a note on your check (made payable to VMTA) or send a note with your payment. Anyone may make a request for disbursement on behalf of any VMTA member. Requests should be made to the VMTA vice president Miriam Atkins-Smith.
VMTA Announcements
Virginia MT Association (VMTA) Spring Business Meeting and CMTE
Our spring 2011 CMTE and business meeting will take place on Saturday, February 26 in Ruebush Hall at Shenandoah University, Winchester. This spring's CMTE is titled "Technology and the Music Therapist" and the presenter is Suzanne Rohrbacher. The day's schedule will be as follows:
9:00-9:30 Registration 9:30-12:10 CMTE 12:10-1:10 Lunch/VMTA business meeting 1:10-3:15 CMTE 3:15-4:15 VMTA business meeting with Judy Simpson
The CMTE is free for VMTA members and $15 for non-members. Members can pay $20 annual dues in person at the meeting. No pre-registration is necessary.
The afternoon business meeting will focus on the formation of a Virginia State Task Force (VASTF) for the regulation of music therapy services within the Commonwealth. Judy Simpson from AMTA will be joining us to answer questions and share information about the process.
